Rent my beautiful master bedroom! I have a very large (1200 sq. ft.), 2.5 bedroom, nicely decorated apartment in a fabulous, quiet, safe neighborhood in the center of LA, and am renting out the largest (12'x13.5') bedroom on a nightly, weekly, or month-to-month basis--short-term only. This isn't some crappy box-like apartment with just a futon in the corner, in a bad part of town. This is one of the nicest parts of town and is a huge, beautiful residence with all the amenities and wonderful tenants--all of that is not necessarily the easiest to find in this city.

If you don't know the area, location is ideal. It's very centrally located. Everything (beach, valley, airport, east side) is about 20-25 minutes by car, and if you don't have a car, every kind of business you might need to visit in LA is within walking distance (2-6 blocks, at most):

--The Grove Mall

--Melrose Ave.

--Cool clothes shopping (the Grove Mall, Melrose Ave.)

--Park (across street--has playground, basketball courts, and running area; lit @ night, too)

--Grocery Stores (Health food store/deli, Whole Foods, CVS pharmacy, Super K-Mart, 7-11)

--Coffee shop with free wireless

--Restaurants/Bars: Italian, Pan-Asian, Spanish tapas, Thai take-out, healthy lunch/breakfast place. My street is smack dab in the center of what's considered LA's alternative "restaurant row."

--Post office (across street)

--Fairfax District (Jewish neighborhood, temples, kosher stores & restaurants)

--Library

--Bank

--Bus stop (in case you don't have a car)

Although the apartment is very close to businesses, the actual street where residence is located is an ultra-quiet, tree-lined, neighborhoody street with permit parking for residents (and guests--i.e., you) only. Building is a 1920's Spanish colonial quad-plex with friendly, quiet neighbors.

Apartment (including bedroom for rent) is fully-furnished and has been called very warm and cozy by visitors, despite the large rooms (see pics--which, because rooms are so large, generally only show half the room). Place is light and airy, with 14' beamed ceilings, hardwood floors, archway, (non-working) fireplace. Front wall is all french door windows. Electric and plumbing have been redone. Great water pressure. Wonderful vibe. I have wireless, laundry, purified water, and both a tub and shower (picture below only shows tub side). Bedroom for rent has Arts and Crafts/Mission-style, solid, queen-size bed, 2 clock/radios, a TV with DVD/VCR (no cable), 2 mirrors, 3 windows (bright!) and plenty of storage for possessions.

I do still live here (i.e., I would still be here while you were here), but I try to be as unobtrusive as possible during your stay, and would want any short-term tenant to feel comfortable enough to come and go as they please, and make this a home away from home while here; we are quite a family in the building here. I would only ask the following:

--Non-smoker preferred, but if you must smoke, please do so outside

--No pets (I sometimes dogsit to help friends out, but that's usually brief and temporary.)

--Be respectful (to home, to stuff, to other building residents, including myself)

--Pay when move in, and add a $100 security deposit to amount owed; if you leave everything as you found it, deposit will be returned to you.

To clarify again, you would only be renting the master bedroom as your space alone; the common areas (kitchen, laundry, living room, dining room, hallway, bathroom) would still be shared with me. Accordingly, prefer renting to just 1 guest; will consider 2 people only for very short stays. Thanks a mil!
