We're a French family (2 adults and 3 kids) and we spent a wonderful time (9 days) in New York, lot due to Iris and Alastair. They're really friendly and helpful, always trying to answer to all our requests. Thanks to them, we felt secure and cool.
The loft (without any real bedroom) is very well situated (10 min. walking from Time Square).

I booked this place for my parents, and they had a fantastic stay at the Loft. The location is great, and you can literally get to anywhere in the city very easily, also easily get across the water to NJ, and Grand Central is just up the road. 9th Avenue is also fantastic for restaurants and bars. Despite being in such a prime location (2 blocks from Times Square) there was barely any road noise in the loft. You have your own entrance, so it is great if you want some privacy and still be in the middle of everything. The loft itself is very spacious, and the layout is modern and cool! Alastair is very approachable, and any time we had questions he got back to us very quickly despite being on vacation. We didn't get the chance to have his famous breakfast, and look forward to trying that next time we stay at the loft! You can't go wrong with this place. Thanks Alastair!

This appartement is amazing, the building is perfect and the location is really good for my first time in NYC i couldn't have better. Me and my family want to say thank you again to our perfect host. And the breakfast with the view on Manhatan was probably the best breakfast ever.
I am 100% satisfied.

Alaster and Iris are a wonderful youg couple. They are very friendly, they make you at ease like at home. they help you to find and go to the places you are interested to visit, give very good advices, and help you evrey day. Their loft is a wonderful experience, for those who are acustumed to live in traditional houses. It is very clean, lighty, well situated, ten minutes walking fromTimes Square and the big avenues of Manhatan. Their street is quiet. You cannot find better because they are the BEST!!!

Excellent location and very safe area near police station! Very quiet at night.
Main areas are undergoing renovation (painting, etc).
If you cannot walk stairs, you need to stay in a room on lower floors. If you can do the stairs, it is on top floor so no one is above you!
Hosts make sure you have what you need!

Pros:
The location was perfect. Really wasn't more than 3 minutes walking from a main subway line. Heading west, there was a ton of shops, and places to eat. And best of all, the biggest worry of staying in NYC ... the place was clean.
Negatives:
There are steps. A lot of them. If you're not in decent shape, this place might not be for you (then again, NYC might not be either!) There has to be 70+ steps to go up and down each way. Outside of that, there was no issues with the place. There isn't a TV, which I was worried about but the one thing I noticed quickly with NYC -- when you get back to your place, you have no energy or interest to do much more than rest.
Really happy with Roomorama for having this quality host, and extremely happy with the owner of this location, was nothing but great things can be said of himself.
For all of the concerns that everyone has with safety, health, scams, etc., this place had none of those worries.

Apartment at 82nd street was absolutely great for us. Two of us stayed there 7 days in June and loved it. Steps from Central Park, neighborhood was really beautiful and quiet during the night. And you know what? As we got married in NYC during our stay we spent our first night as a married couple in this very apartment!
While we were still back home in Zagreb and making plans for our trip, Alastair was very kind and helpful via e-mails and even bought us tickets for Mets game! Thank you very much once more and we hope to return soon.

Both apartments were absolutley great. I stayed at 82nd street and 43rd street west and absolutley loved it! The locations were great and the apartments absolutley impecable! Thank you so much again for making my stay even more enjoyable :)The only serious complaint I have is that the waterbed at 43rd west almost ruined my back...haha.

My husband and I stayed with Alastair and Iris last December. We had a wonderful weekend in the city! We thought we would be crashing in a strange apartment but the next morning, as we sat around the kitchen table over breakfast, (totally unexpected and DELICIOUS!!!)we realized we were in the home of new friends. The care and thoughtfulness of our hosts was incredible and added so much to our NYC experience! The location of this apartment is super convenient too...we walked to a Broadway show (39 Steps)and were minutes to the metro to access the rest of the city. There were many nice restaurants and fun to be had in the neighborhood, and it was very safe and a perfectlocation overall. Our best hosts ever! We give these guys a big thumbs up and our thanks for a fun and memorable weekend!

The Great 1 BR Apt. turned out to be ideal for our 3 day stay in NYC. Our twin girls slept well on the sofa bed in the living room while my husband and I slept comfortably in the bedroom. If my boys didn't have a planned sleepover with their NYC buddy they would have had no problem finding room to sleep along with us. We loved the upper westside location of this apartment. For breakfast, my husband picked up our favorite bagels, H&H on 81st and Bway. The popular gourmet shop Zabars is still next door to H&H. Fairway is located a little farther down on Bway if you want to do some grocery shopping. They have everything. When our boys came to meet us, we checked out the Museum of Natural History right around the corner. Later, we walked all the way to Columbia University campus at 116th and Bway since it was such a beautiful day. To reach the eastside, we only had to take a bus across town on 79th Street. There are so many restaurant choices now on the upper westside along Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues. We all had such a great time visiting NYC and friends there while staying in the 82nd Street apartment steps from Central Park that we look forward to coming back to the same place. Friends from NY thought that the price was exceptional. The three flight walk up wasn't a problem even for our 22 month old twins. Don't visit NYC if you don't like walking or climbing stairs. The key is to pack lightly. Thanks to our host he was so helpful and gracious.

We liked the location, the bed was comfortable, good breakfast and the hostess was most pleasant. The only downside is the location of the bed againts the window so you have the lights and sounds of the street.
